Behind every statue, an ancient story.

The Chinese pantheon of gods is expansive: Warriors and scholars, outlaws and magistrates, maidens and gents, sages and obnoxious tweens, serpents, tortoises, tigers, parrots, even astronomical and terrestrial features. It is an inclusive divinity, and also a deviant divinity: Many gods were repented sinners. It was what made them relatable to mere mortals. There is a reason their stories have endured through the centuries. Below are some of them.
